I would have named this camera "Blur Be Gone"!
It's a SNAP to take sharp, super crisp photos at 5.2 MP resolution! You'll produce beautiful 4x6-inch prints and astonishingly clear enlargements up to poster size with the HP M415. It didn't take me long to get up-to-speed on this camera either. The menus are very intuitive and easy to maneuver using the 1.5" display on the back of the camera. The menu options are explained in simple English that anyone can understand (without needing a professional photographer to translate for you). PLUS - it has a Help Manual built-in - so you can simply look up answers to questions or get photo taking tips right there on the camera display while you're taking photos!! One of the coolest features of this fabulous camera is the exclusive HP Real Life technologies, which are bound to help you take and produce better photos from your digital camera. The HP Adaptive Lighting let's you get rid of red-eye right on the spot! It also automatically brings out details lost in shadows and allows you to play with some really sweet backlighting effects. I didn't have to mess with spotlights and such for my photos of auction items anymore - no matter what the light setting - this camera could easily adjust. This nifty camera also handles both distance shots and detailed close-ups with the simple touch of a button and produces photos with superb quality. You will want to put the camera in MACRO mode every time you take a closeup picture (icon is a flower). I was truly amazed at the difference! Before I started using the HP M415, my closeup photos were typically blurry -- very shaky one-handed shots. Not only did the unique sculpted grip on this camera help to steady my hand - but the Macro mode setting completely eliminated blurring! I could actually READ EVERYTHING on the closeup shots I took of the backs of DVD items for my auctions - even the tiny print! You also won't believe the great distance shots that you'll get using the HP Precision 3x optical lens with 6 x digital zoom - for a total of 18x total zoom. When zoomed in on something that far away - again I used to miss the shot entirely (be way off-center) or it would be too blurry to see. And I never knew what settings I was supposed to adjust on the camera to improve my pictures - it was all Greek to me. All those issues disappeared using the built-in, user-friendly features of the HP M415 like the easy distance mode setup. This camera even compensates for tremors (trembling hands) by adjusting shutter speed. Every photo I took with this camera maintained clarity and focus. I'd personally like to rename it "Blur Be Gone". But the absolute coolest thing about the HP M415 is that is also substitutes as a DIGITAL VIDEO RECORDER!! A couple of weeks ago I was running late to my daughter's choir concert and didn't have time to charge our camcorder - so on the way out the door I grabbed the M415 camera. I knew it would take video clips, but worried about the quality of the sound capture (which is the important thing at a choir concert), zoom-in, and focus capabilities during video recording. I managed to record several video clips of various songs during the concert (in a dark theater while holding it up over the heads of people in front of me) - hope that helps you understand how easy this camera is to use! They came out GREAT - especially for a first attempt! We used HP Instant Share to quickly upload and email clips to family, too. Hope you enjoy your BLUR BE GONE!
