What is Restored With Love? To me , it is taking something that has been used, forgotten about, maybe even broken and giving it life again. Seeing things differently than others see them: seeing them as valuable, as worthy, and as loveable. Making them feel like they are wanted, like they are loved, and like they matter. I, too, felt like I was broken, unloved, unworthy, and unwanted. I was at the very bottom. I got 2 DWI’s in less than 5 years. I was in and out of abusive relationships for several years. I had to face everyone with black eyes, bruises, and broken bones. My eyesocket was shattered, my nose was broken, my cheekbone was fractured, a nerve was severed, and I ended up with over a hundred stitches in my face. I lost our home, our car, everything that we had in storage. I was staying in motels at one point trying to get back on my feet and had been separated from both of my boys. It seemed like I couldn’t do anything right no matter how hard I tried. I remember one day when my boys were very young standing in our storage closet down the hall with a rope around my neck, I couldn’t find a way out of the darkness that I was in. God was with me in that moment. I cried and screamed and then all I could see was my boys faces. I couldn’t do that to them. They needed me. After I got the second DWI, I decided to move back to Troy. I decided that I was going to do everything completely different than I had done before. I knew what I wanted, but I had no idea how I was going to get there. I kept seeing that quote “If you want something different than you have to do something different”. That is just what I did. I wanted my life back. I wanted the boys and I to be together. I wanted to show them that things would be better. I moved back here to Troy and started going to Journey Church where I started volunteering with everything that I could to stay busy and meet new people.
