Highest quality switch, Carling DK284-73
I live by the motto, "Buy once, cry once". You may initially spend a bit more money to purchase quality, but in the long run you won't have cheaper, inferior products failing when you need them the most, costing you more money in down time and replacement cost. I bought this top quality switch for a project with a 1/2 hp electric motor. Switching electric motors is very different from light bulbs as the high current draw produces internal arcing which is the death of inferior switches and may even be dangerous when the contacts inside fail. It is made in Mexico, but I have no doubt it will last me for years or even decades. The plastic is high grade and well formed, the metal parts are flawless and the riveted construction is perfect. The switch operates with firm pressure and a loud click. The switch is rated 1 hp, 16A@125v, 8A@250v. In this day and age of absolutely cheap foreign junk, I would highly recommend this switch for heavy duty applications, especially electric motors.

Great product for the price, but... Poor poor quality control. Loose bits of wire and solder blobs inside unit could short out. You must open it up and examine. I bought two and if I did not check them, they would definitely have shorted out. Besides these extraneous bits of metal inside, the actual build quality was very good. I would recommend these IF YOU OPEN AND EXAMINE THEM BEFORE USE.
