Logitech G930 Wireless Gaming Headset with 7.1 Surround Sound (981-000257R)

Excellent quality at a fantastic price.
I have been using both Audio-Technica ATH-M35 studio headphones and a Turtle Beach XL1 EarForce Gaming headset for several years now. They are both great products and I have loved them both, but now that I've experienced 7.1 Surround Sound I will never go back to 5.1 for gaming. The difference between the audio quality is negligible for sounds that were recorded using regular microphones such as most music. However, the omni-diectional sounds (aka 3D, 5D, dual channel, multi channel, etc.) are worlds apart. While gaming, I can now tell the origin and direction of a gunshot travelling across the map while listening to teammates or music, and even while I'm speaking myself. There are several cheaper options for 7.1 Surround Sound headphones, but that's not all I was impressed by in this headset. The microphone quality is actually quite good, not great for streaming but that is to be expected from most headset mics. The battery life in practice during long sessions is much better than I expected, though I wish the warning sound was a little louder. This may be able to be changed within the settings though, I haven't spent much time customizing my settings yet aside from making the headset my primary playback device. I haven't found a practical use for the 3 programmable G keys on the left side of the headset aside from controlling media, but they are definitely a value-adding feature. The volume button on the left side is also quite high quality, and the range of volume is quite impressive. I moved from playing games at Max volume in order to hear the minute details like footsteps, but with this device those otherwise quiet sounds are quite noticeable even at 25% volume. These are a refurbished headset, and the minor cosmetic damage is exactly that. My particular set had a small scuff on the plastic above the right earpiece, and many small scuffs around the edges of the earpieces where the previous owner, refurbisher or postal carrier mishandled the equipment - but everything is in working order. At a comparable price to the budget brand competitors, this headset definitely exceeded my expectations. Thanks NeweggCanada, I'll be back!
