Describing Drugs or Drug-like Substances

eBay prohibits sellers from describing legal substances in a manner that suggests ingesting, inhaling, extracting or otherwise using any substance or compound from the legal substance will provide the same effect as an illegal drug, compound or substance or that will provide unsubstantiated health benefits.

Violations of this policy may result in a range of actions, including:

  • Listing cancellation

  • Loss of eBay fees

  • Limits placed on account privileges

  • Loss of PowerSeller status

  • Account suspension

  • Listing substances with the claim that it can be used to treat or cure sexual function, infertility or impotency.

  • Advertising any article or substance with the claim that it will cure blindness, cancer, drug addiction, etc

  • Under Philippine law, it is unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale import, export, distribute, or transfer any drug without licence from the Bureau of Food and Drugs. It is also an offense for sellers to make false, deceptive, or misleading advertisements of any drug for the purpose of inducing, directly or indirectly, their purchase .

eBay urges its sellers and buyers to comply with all governmental laws and regulations. Since certain unsubstantiated promotional and marketing claims related to drugs and drug-like substances are prohibited by law and sales of these items may cause harm to eBay or its members, sellers may not market items with such claims on eBay.
