About this product

Product Information

Smash your way to victory in the Nintendo Entertainment System video game "Wrecking Crew." The key to this exciting game is to smash the objects in the right order and clear the levels without getting Mario destroyed or trapped. There are 100 possible stages, and Mario can start at any spot from the opening screen. In two-player mode, you can share the game with a friend playing as Luigi. Help each other out to complete the unique challenges of each level. This NES game throws in a lot of special challenges for the player. Mario has a very heavy hammer, which means he cannot jump. However, he can smash various objects, including walls and ladders. While Mario has the ability to gain bonus points and items by using a chain of bombs, this ability is also dangerous. For example, don't smash or blow up your ladder too soon. If you do, you'll have no way to get out. In this title, you only have five lives to spare and no checkpoints to go back to. This means that there is very little room for error. For even more fun, gamers can create their own levels on "Wrecking Crew." This unique feature will allow you to play your own ultimate level after editing in some of your favorite challenges.A new character that is introduced in "Wrecking Crew" is the construction foreman, Spike. This early version of Wario chases Mario throughout the levels and knocks objects into his path, causing the hero to fall to the bottom. Mario loses a life when he comes into contact with enemies or runs into a fireball. The game ends either when all lives are lost or when Mario gets trapped inside of a barrel. "Wrecking Crew" was originally released for Nintendo in 1985, and an arcade version was put out that year as well. The arcade version had a simultaneous two-player mode and was titled "Vs. Wrecking Crew." It was later re-introduced in 1989 via the Family Computer Disk System and re-introduced once more in 2004 on the Game Boy Advance with the Famicom disk system. Virtual Console players saw "Wrecking Crew" games re-released three different times. It was available for the Wii in 2007 and for the Nintendo 3DS in September 2011. The classic was also available on the 3DS eShop in Japan in 2012 and in Europe, in North America, and in Australia in 2013. Wii U saw it introduced in both the U.S. and Europe in 2013. As a bonus, all of the Virtual Console versions provide you with the option to save your progress. Old-school NES players will jump at the chance to take on this classic from the 1980s.
