Players engage in a mix of platforming and arcade-style shoot-em-up action as they battle an alien menace in Velocity 2X. Lieutenant Kai Tana has been abducted by hostile aliens and gamers must climb in the Quarp Jet, blast through hordes of foes, rescue fellow prisoners, and find a way home. Kai's jet can warp around top-down shooting levels, and when she docks the ship players can use speed boost pads, teleportation, and cybernetic sprint to speed through more than 50 levels that get progressively faster and more difficult.<br><br>This Critical Mass edition includes the original game, 16 more levels in the form of the Critical Urgency and Dual Core expansions, the Daily Sprint expansion that offers one randomly generated platforming level every day, and a making-of documentary.
