As architect David Vincent is returning home from a business trip in the wee hours one Sunday morning, he attempts to find a shortcut in unfamiliar territory. While he doesn't find the route he is looking for, he does witness is something which goes apparently unnoticed by anyone else on Earth: the landing of a spacecraft containing creatures from a far-off planet.
