The Sigma 8 mm - 16 mm lens is an ultra-wide zoom lens for any APS-C Sigma DSLR camera but is designed for the Pentax line. Although this is a macro lens, it is also the first that was designed for a minimum focal length of 8 mm. With a minimum focusing distance of 9.4 inches, the f/4.5-5.6 Sigma lens for Pentax enables the photographer to emphasize the subject by exaggerating perspectives. Landscapes and cityscapes are ideal subjects for this lens. Comprising two glass elements and one hybrid aspherical lens, the Sigma 8 mm - 16 mm lens has minimal ghosting and distortion. This macro lens has performance equal to fluorite glass and more than compensates for color aberration. When used on an APS-C image sensor, the Sigma 8 mm - 16 mm lens has an equivalent angle of view of 12 mm - 24 mm. An inner focusing system on the Sigma lens for Pentax produces images in high-definition throughout all zoom ranges.
