Product Information
This volume presents the plight of the Yanomani people - about 9000 of them. They occupied their land along the Marauai river in Brazil for centuries. Until the 1980s they had no contact with white men. In 1987 the Brazilian military encouraged 45,000 gold miners to invade their country, with brutal results. Dennison Berwick has defied the authorities and gone into Yanomani country no less than five times to bring back this account of a genocide. His message is that change is inevitable - annihilation of a gentle people is not. The author also wrote Amazon and A Walk Along the Ganges .Product Identifiers
