British developer Rare unearths one of their characters from the halcyon days of the Commodore 64 in this follow-up to 1984's computer game of the same title. Now much older and wiser, intrepid explorer Sabre Man is pressed into duty once more when the legendary Sabre Wulf, an aggressive animal whose fearsome strength goes unmatched throughout the land, is freed from captivity. The amulet that once bound the wolf to stone has now been shattered into eight pieces, which must somehow be retrieved in order to trap the beast once again and restore order to the world.<br><br>Presented in a similar visual style as the Donkey Kong Country series on Super NES, Sabre Wulf has players journeying across pre-rendered lands searching for pieces of the amulet. As he ventures forth through mines, jungles, temples, and lairs where the Sabre Wulf lurks, Sabre Man will be able to steal the creature's treasure if he survives the numerous traps lying in wait for him. Once a treasure has been found, Sabre Man must race back to his tent while being chased by the Sabre Wulf. No longer able to wield his trusted sword, the explorer can instead count on animal friends to use as platforms, to capture enemies, or for various other helpful purposes.
