For authenticity, Reef obtained the original movie and trailer voice recordings from the productions and used them in the game. That means the lines you hear in the game are the actual recordings you remember from the legendary Rambo series. Gameplay for Rambo: The Video Game follows the rail-shooter tradition that's commonly found in arcades with additional cover-shooting elements and character leveling. Levels consist of a variety of destructible terrain that fans saw in First Blood, First Blood Part II, and Rambo III. The game features stealth elements for infiltrating prison camps during heroic rescues and for cinematic slow-motion video takedowns. The initial release version of the game includes iconic weapons from the Rambo films like his bow and massive knife. It also features both one player and two player game modes, so you can let friends star alongside you. As Rambo levels up through the game, newer and more powerful perks are unlocked to enhance skills and show the bad guys that you're the boss. Once Rambo is fully leveled up to the maximum, a total of three perks can be equipped all at once. Skill points are also earned to add bonus multipliers to the base lineup of defense, weapon, and special skills. There is also a variety of arrow upgrades, knives, pistols, and heavier weapons with a wide range of damage levels. All of these elements work together to make the character easy to tailor to the preferences of any player. A meter bar at the top of the screen shows the accumulation of wrath from eliminating or disarming various enemies. Once it's full, players can enter wrath mode to recover health and build combos through more action-packed gunplay. The video changes in wrath mode to highlight enemies and items that will explode when shot with a firearm. Enemies are also slowed down while players move at normal speed and temporarily have unlimited ammo to cut enemies down.
