Product Information

The Punisher by Sega Genesis is a classic 1990s-era ROM video game from Capcom that can let you revisit your video gaming roots. This retro ROM is based on a Marvel Comics book character by the same name, and it follows the protagonist and his sidekicks, such as agent Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D, in their fight against, drug smugglers, assassins, and the Mafia, all in a side scrolling format. During your adventure, you are able to use different weapons for a diverse gaming experience that includes a few details derived from the comic books, such as the onscreen visualized sound effects. The Punisher game by Sega Genesis was available originally as an arcade game and was developed as an at home version by Sega Genesis that is still enjoyable if you have a game system that’s compatible. The Punisher game by Sega Genesis follows the same general formula as previous beat ’em up ROMs released by Capcom, in that this game has a comic book-style presentation and features a range of weapons that the characters can use in their fights. The Punisher became very popular as an arcade game and can be widely viewed as one of the top titles in this genre, as well as being touted as one of the best adaptations of a comic book into the video game format. In 1994, Sculptured Software developed a Mega Drive/Genesis port which was then published by Capcom USA, in conjunction with Marvel Entertainment. The Punisher game by Sega Genesis begins inside an illegal casino, and on the mean streets of New York City, where Frank "the Punisher" Castle is in pursuit of a Mafia enforcer named Bruno Costa. The chase then ends in a fight between Castle and Chester Scully, who is a minor villain featured in the comic books. Still hot on the tracks of mobster Bruno, the Punisher manages to infiltrate a mob resort by way of a water duct. Once inside the resort, he corners Bruno after breaking into a hotel. His fight ends before it begins when the hapless Bruno is lasered to death by a huge character known as a Guardroid, who the Punisher must then take on. At the local harbor, the Punisher then goes on to raid a major drug smuggling operation and has to get into a fight with four gorgeous yet deadly, Ninja sisters: Misa, Mizuki, Luna, and Midori. These sisters are in different colored outfits so you can tell them apart. As game play continues, the Punisher confronts the character Bonebreaker who resides in a waterfront warehouse. The Kingpin is not happy when Castle attacks his poppy field hidden in an underground cave in Arizona. As the Punisher game by Sega Genesis continues, Castle boards and then destroys a freight train commandeered by Bushwhacker. At this point in the Punisher game, the Kingpin has finally had enough and assigns some assassins to get rid of the meddling Castle. A hefty contract is put out, and Castle never has a moment’s peace fighting and slashing his way through the game. In the final showdown, and after having defeated characters, such as Jigsaw and another Guardroid, the Punisher goes up against the Kingpin himself. After defeating his foe, an entire tower collapses on top of the Kingpin, but he’s not found among the other dead criminals. So ends this saga, although there may be more fighting ahead for the characters in this fun retro game.
