Product Information
In this, the premiere episode of Showtime's PICTURE WINDOWS series, three top American directors each presents a short film about passionate romance and its repercussions. Norman Jewison's SOIR BLUE tells the tragic tale of Tully (Alan Arkin), a circus clown who confesses his love for Lola (Rosana De Soto), a trapeze artist. When her husband, Carl (Dan Hedaya), finds out, love drives Tully to murder. Peter Bogdanovich's SONG OF SONGS centers on Ted Varnas (George Segal), an uptight baker who learns the difference between romance and passion when Blossom (Sally Kirkland) opens a lingerie store across the street. When the two begin having an affair, Ted finally learns that his wife, Angie (Brooke Adams), hasn't been as faithful as he'd imagined. Finally, in Jonathan Kaplan's LANGUAGE OF THE HEART, set in the 1920s, Anna (Tamara Gorski), a beautiful ballerina, finds herself falling in love with Mischa (Joel Bisonnette), a sensitive street musician. After one of the orchestra's violinists breaks his arm, Anna uses her influence over the maestro (Michael Lerner) to secure Mischa a seat in the orchestra pit. Incorporating famous works of art to introduce each segment as well as Hummie Mann's sweeping score, PICTURE WINDOWS is an above-average made-for-television drama with its heart on full display.Product Identifiers
