In their never-ending quest for fame, Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Sylvester, and Taz have all agreed to star in Yosemite Sam's latest movie. Little do they know that the producers are in fact Rocky and Mugsy, gangsters who hope the movie will flop, thus enabling them to buy the studio for a song. LOONS: The Fight for Fame pits the four spotlight-hogging characters against one another in a knockdown-dragout brawl with the ultimate goal of attaining as much screen time as possible. Three modes of play include Fight For Fame, Multiplayer Madness, and Arcade. While both the single- and multiplayer modes offer similar styles of play, the former provides some semblance of structure by pitting the player against CPU-controlled opponents in a series of 15 arenas or "scenes" that make up the movie. The scenes players will find themselves in are often parodies of well-known movies. Each character possesses a Star Quality meter that must be continually replenished by outdoing any onscreen rivals. Once a character loses Star Quality, the game is over. Basic maneuvers include the ability to jump, attack with a melee weapon, execute a short speed burst, or pick up one of the many ACME-inspired power-ups that litter each scene. The power-ups, many of which are unique to each themed scene, allow players to unleash a host of zany attacks on their hapless opponents, including one that has anvils falling down from the heavens. Central to each scene are props -- devices randomly activated by director Yosemite Sam. When active, the first player to use the prop will receive a fame boost, while the others end up on the receiving end of a world of hurt. Should one of the characters be fortunate enough to fill his fame meter, a star will appear in the scene that has the power to warp all characters to one of seven mini-games. Arcade mode grants players access to the mini-games unlocked during the single-player campaign, while Multiplayer Madness allows four human players to compete against one another. Unlockable extras include pictures, video clips, and music of classic Looney Tunes cartoons.
