The LEGO 6066 Camouflaged Outpost is a classic set from 1987 that is part of the Castle System's Forestmen subtheme. From out of what appears to be the woodland itself, six merry forestmen exit a hidden door to protect the camouflaged hideout. The original set includes six forestmen minifigures, a horse with saddle and short-sword, wavy swallowtail pennant, battleaxe, and a treasure chest with two golden chalices. The minifigs have colorful designs on their green shirts, accented with touches of blue, red, brown, and black with a hat and matching color feather. Two additional sized plume feathers, a bow and arrow, and a quiver are also included for each minifig. A step-by-step instruction booklet helps guide you through this fun building challenge. There are also alternative ideas shown on the back of the instruction booklet.What appears to be a rock with overgrown leaves from a tree is really the secret hideout of the heroic LEGO Forestmen. The model hinges open to reveal the inside of the outpost while a battle axe and treasure chest decorate the room. Two windows make a great place to watch for the enemy or shoot arrows. There is plenty of space inside for all six of the forestmen to hide out until the knights retreat to the dark castle. If the dark knights' search reveals a way in, don't worry, a secret door covered by a swiveling black rock leads to the outside for quick escape.There is plenty of room for action all over the outside of the outpost also. The tree has a platform where your heroic minifigures can stand on lookout and fire arrows down at the dark knights. The leaves that cover the outpost double as platforms, which the minifigs can climb and stand on.The LEGO 6066 Camouflaged Outpost is a perfect companion to the other castle theme sets made by LEGO. The Castle System Camouflaged Outpost is also the second-largest set made for the Forestmen series and is recommended for ages 7-12. Other rare blocks in the set are the black wall corner panels brick, small tree, and horse. Many of the parts, including the gray castle walls and black panels, match other sets in the series and can be used to combine sets to building a larger castle.The dimensions of the original box are 13-1/8 inches by 9-3/8 inches by 1-7/8 inches. The guide shows 211 pieces in this set; however, with the extra black, blue, red, and yellow plumes for the forestmen's hats, this number is actually higher. There are two green baseplates and two small pine trees also included.
