Product Information
For those who enjoy Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, Data Becker offers an expansion pack that will quite literally expand your horizons. Jumbo Jet 2.0 puts you in the pilot's seat, flying the big rig of airplanes, the 747. In fact, the game provides 66 of the jumbos, each documented by airline, type and engine. There are 15 engines, each with different outputs, from three manufacturers, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric and Rolls Royce.

Data Becker designed the CD to focus on three specific categories, each containing topical add-ons. In the aircraft section, you'll find the 66 models of the 747 with all the meaningful panels and sounds required for the flight simulation. The flight maps category gives you pertinent course maps for North America and Europe, with a few more detailing European airports. Finally, the scenery section centers on surrounding airport environments for Geneva, Delaware, Maryland and Washington, D.C., and includes more than 100 airports.

The manual's appendices provide varying charts useful to the cyber-pilot. There are a dozen specific check lists, each dealing with the control checks, response and member(s) of the crew responsible ranging from the initial "cockpit check" to the final "leaving aircraft" checkout. The next section of the appendix focuses on fuel loading for the 747. In a concession to the way Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 deals with fuel loading by percentage-based input options, Jumbo Jet 2.0 offers both that information as well as the standard, professional method of fueling according to weight. A dozen or so tables provide the data in increments ranging from 12,000kg to 153,000kg.

Several conversion tables are provided including meters to feet, miles to kilometer/miles, pounds to kilograms, Fahrenheit to Celsius and gallons to English pounds (kg). More reference tables include jumbo jet weight limitations, acceleration loads, maximum structural and landing speed limitations and a large collection of charts showing more than a dozen specific speed parameters for such items as take-off climb rate (V2), flap retraction (VF1), stall (Vs), threshold (VTh), approach (VA) and go-around (VGA) among others.

Other features found in Jumbo Jet 2.0 are photo-realistic instrument clusters and controls, working gauges with sound, landing lights, movies and photos of actual 747s in flight, taxi functions and tech specs for all of the planes, including wingspan, length, maximum take-off ground weights, passenger accommodations, maximum speed, cruising speed and range.Product Identifiers
