Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 gives Vita gamers a chance to take on a revamped version of the first game in Idea Factory's quirky RPG series inspired by the real world "console wars." Players once again return to the land of Gameindustri, where four goddesses battle for control and their respective homelands are representations of specific consoles: Noire presides over Lastation (PS3); Vert rules Leanbox (Xbox 360); Blanc governs Lowee (Wii); and the main character Neptune presides over Planeptune, a reference to Sega's unreleased Neptune console.<br><br>As Neptune, players explore dungeons and engage in turn-based battles with monsters unleashed by a mysterious woman known as Arfoire, all in an effort to find the Histoire, a book that contains all the world's secrets. Re;Birth1 updates the original game's combat mechanics to match those of Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory, meaning gamers can freely explore the 3D environments and move a set distance within the battlefield once they've been engaged in combat. Each character has an attack radius, and players can strategically position their party to hit multiple foes with each strike.<br><br>Industry references and joke remain a key part of the Hyperdimension Neptunia experience, with each goddess once again transforming into a more powerful CPU (Console Patron Unit), secondary characters drawn from classic video games, and a variety of developers. New characters and storylines in Re;Birth1 have been drawn from developers, including Bandai Namco, Marvelous AQL, CyberConnect2, and Falcom.
