The story is set in the year 2065, when air defense systems have grown so advanced that most combat involves robotic humanoids battling behind enemy lines. Gamers take control of a group of supersoldiers as they make their way through expansive levels designed to accommodate four players. Black Ops III also marks the return of Treyarch's signature zombie gameplay, with the new Shadows of Evil mode offering a film-noir experience set in the 1940s fictional town of Morg City. Gamers choose from four troubled and amnesia-stricken protagonists, and then guide them through multiple districts, earning XP along the way.
