ASRock designed the A75M-ITX motherboard for users looking to build out a high-performance Home Theater PC (HTPC) that has all the bells and whistles but none of the superfluous add-ons that can slow a system down. Designed around a socket FM1, the ASRock A75M-ITX has the capability to harness the power of a high-power AMD 100W processor and integrate it into a Mini ITX form factor that fits in a case close to the size of a shoebox and smaller – ideal for discreet placement in any entertainment center. The ASRock A75M-ITX motherboard uses an AMD A75-D3 (Hudson) core logic chipset that combines the host bridge with an AMD Radeon HD 640 graphics processor to improve power efficiency and performance. The A75’s Fusion Control Hub (FCH), or southbridge, integrates USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and SATA 6 GBps ports, while DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort run off the northbridge, which pulls power from the CPU. The A75M-ITX’s AMD A75 gives you several options to tailor your HTPC according to your needs. Compatible AMD processors include the A4 series, A6 series, A8 series, Athlon, Athlon II X4, and Sempron. The ASRock A75M-ITX motherboard’s multimedia and home theater features – such as AMD Steady Video, XFAST RAM, XFAST USB, and XFAST LAN – set it apart from in-class HTPC motherboards. AMD Steady Video automatically eliminates shakiness and jitter from home and online videos. XFAST LAN reduces latency to play online games five times faster. XFAST RAM creates a virtual disk from system memory to increase performance five times faster. For example, if you use Photoshop often, the A75M-ITX stores the frequently accessed data in a memory cache (separate from the CPU memory cache) to minimize retrieval times – kind of like having a DVD queued to a desired scene instead of having to search the index for it. Additional features include ASRock’s APP Charger, Extreme Tuning Utility (AXTU), Instant Boot, and Instant Flash. A75M-ITX motherboards support Microsoft DirectX 11 and Pixel Shader 5.0, AMD Dual Graphics technology, DDR3 2400+ SD RAM unbuffered memory, and have one PCI Express 2.0 x16 slot. The board has 7.1 channel HD audio with a Realtek ALC892 codec and premium Blu-ray audio support.
