Create for Alcoa's Centennial Technical Symposia 1986-1988. It has a striking modernist design set and is very rare. This very limited edition commemorative sets were given as gifts to presenters,and a few were awarded as door prizes to those who attended the Symposia. The chess set consists of 32 pieces (16 each, white & black in their red wooden storage boxes) and the original board. The red boxes have some felt that is creating red dust. Comes off easily. The top of the board shows some light scratches from use (but is still very presentable). We inspected each piece carefully and found two that have issues. Those are documented in the photos. The box is well constructed. Looks like the back has come off and was repaired. Overall, the set is in very nice condition. Heavy. Set weighs over 30 pounds. Seller Lot #1839.”
