First State DJ has shelf-wear (June 10th date present), rubbing present to the DJ especially around the extremities (DJ sunned and faded with light chipping present to the spine ends). No ownership marks present. Bookplate removed from the front board. Text is clean and free of marks, binding tight and solid, boards clean with no wear present. This novel is about an immigrant family, their ties to their culture and roots, while trying to adjust to a new culture, city life, and above all capitalism. The wholesomeness of the farm, the pull of the land, is contrasted with life in the city and the unbridled capitalism of the "Owners." How does an honest diligent worker fit into this new world?
