Not like a regular single coil, but it has this amazing, round, and still clear tone, even if not nearly as bright. Melodic solos sound sweet, smooth, and amazing with high gain, and the cleans are to die for. Definitely a keeper in the neck! Would be great in the bridge, but I have not tried it for that purpose. Mine was the flat, "custom" (non-staggered) version.
