The baton itself needs a little TLC. I mean careful light sanding then staining, varnishing, maybe some shellac in order to bring it to a proper carrying or displaying condition. It appears to be a Chicago PD baton or an extremely close copy of one. I personally own one in good condition. This baton is kind of similar. The original finish is gone or perhaps it was never applied to it.
