About this product

Product Information

The Tektronix 2247A 100MHz analog oscilloscope enables you to monitor signals from your electronics equipment. This unit has a Benchtop form factor and features a powerful bandwidth of 100MHz. Other functions included with the Tektronix 2247A analog oscilloscope are a 34dB channel isolation, four channels, and a rise time of 3.5 NS. The Tektronix 2247A oscilloscope features an easy-to-read analog output graph that indicates a number of displays, including the volts, fall, rise, frequency, width, and time of an electrical signal. The 2247A 100MHz analog oscilloscope was brought to market by Tektronix in 1989, and has a number of user-friendly features to help increase productivity, such as the built-in voltimeter, integrated counter and timer, time and voltage cursors with CRT readouts, and auto setup. An oscilloscope, such as the Tektronix 2247A, is an electronic test instrument that allows the observation of constantly varying signal voltages. This is usually shown as a two-dimensional plot with one or more signals as a function of time. There are other signals, such as vibration and sound, that are converted and displayed. The first analog sample of signals measuring over 100 MHz was made possible by Tektronix in 1960. This Tektronix oscilloscope is used to observe changes in electronic equipment signals over time, in such a way that time and voltage describe a shape that is continually graphed against a calibrated scale. Observed waveforms are analyzed for such properties as frequency, rise, amplitude, distortion, time interval and others. Modern digital instruments calculate and directly display these properties. Original instruments required manual calculation of these values by measuring waveforms against scales that were built into the instrument’s screen. As well as the basic instrument, most analog oscilloscopes are supplied with a probe to test equipment. Oscilloscopes, as with all practical instruments, do not respond equally to all input frequencies. The range of frequencies the Tektronix 2247A 100MHz analog oscilloscope can display is what is referred to as its bandwidth. Primarily, bandwidth refers to the Y-axis, although X-axis sweeps have to be quick enough to show the highest frequency waveforms. The instrument’s probe connects to any of its inputs and typically features a resistor of 10 times the unit’s input impedance. This results in an attenuation factor of .1, but it helps to isolate the capacitive load given from the signal being measured. The simplest and earliest analog oscilloscopes are comprised of a cathode ray tube, a timebase, a power supply, a vertical amplifier, and a horizontal amplifier. Analog oscilloscopes have several advantages over other types of scopes, such as the scope’s intensity and focus control, which is adjustable to reveal a sharper and more legible display. As well, an analog scope features a phosphor-based display that provides a brighter trace during occurrence of signal features. This capability is also known as intensity grading, and it helps the operator to easily distinguish signal details. The Tektronix 2247A 100MHz oscilloscope is the perfect choice for anyone wishing to use an analog scope to measure the signals from their equipment.
