Cull coin assortments sometimes contain an unrecognized rare or scarce variety. I couldn't tell whether one of the coins was an 1803 or 1808/7 half cent. If the latter, a great bargain. But the combination of metal loss from cleaning and a slightly fuzzy photo left me in the air. With coins in hand, it is clear that the lot contained an 1803 C-1, 1806 C-4 and 1808 C-3. Common die varieties for those dates.
