Lovecraft’s friend, fellow author and publisher Donald Wandrei. Inscribed by the author: “To Donald Wandrei, in the hope that a better understanding of Lovecraft may be shortly forthcoming. S.T. Joshi.” With the Wandrei estate bookplate affixed to the front pastedown which reads: “From the Library of Donald Wandrei - St. Paul, Minnesota - Author & Co-Founder of Arkham House - Publishers.” 473 pages with additional introductory material, explanatory notes, and abbreviations. Near fine copy without dust jacket as issued. Donald Wandrei was a personal friend of Lovecraft and Wandrei is mentioned at numerous places in the text, as co-founder of Arkham House and editor of his letters, Wandrei was one of the one important figures in helping to establish Lovecraft.”
