- *****- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseYes, this item does works as a replacement for DVD drives that require 2 separate cables; power and data. This item is 3.0 USB comparable and therefore it does not need 2 separate cables. I am happy with its functionality, if there's one thing to have in mind when purchasing its to know how long of a cable you need. This would work if you are gonna use it as an external drive for DVD's on a laptop but for a computer it may be too short if you only have ports on the sides.
