Um dies zu uberprufen sollen zunachst die Begrifflichkeiten geklart werden. Im Anschluss wird ausgefuhrt, inwieweit es sich bei eSport um Sport handelt. Mithilfe des Ergebnisses dieser Untersuchung soll abschliessend geklart werden, ob der eSport fur den Schulsport geeignet ist. Der Umgang mit digitalen Medien sowie deren Einsatz im Unterricht sind mittlerweile zentrale Elemente der Diskussion rund um den Schulalltag. So verwundert es nicht, dass die digitalen Medien und die dazugehoerigen Veranderungen in den meisten Unterrichtsfachern bereits im Unterricht angekommen sind. Ein Unterrichtsfach, welches bei der Umsetzung der Lehrtatigkeit mit Hilfe der digitalen Medien bisher weitestgehend unberuhrt blieb, ist der Schulsport. Dabei bietet der Schulsport einen entscheidenden Vorteil. Im Sportunterricht eroeffnet sich die Moeglichkeit, digitale Medien nicht nur als Vermittlungsmedium zu verstehen, sondern diese mit sportlicher Aktivitat zu verbinden. Gemeint ist dabei nicht das Lernen mithilfe der digitalen Medien, sondern das Spielen primar unterhaltungsorientierter Videospiele als Inhalt des Schulsports. Auch wenn dieser Ansatz auf den ersten Blick im Widerspruch zur klassischen koerperlich-motorischen Aktivitat im Sportunterricht steht, bietet er auch durchaus neue Moeglichkeiten.
