It is made of an emerald green color silk and gold lame luxurious damask weave brocade fabric with a woven orchid flower design which is a symbol of love, beauty, wealth, fortune. This beautiful brocade dress Westernized Chinese cheongsam qipao has a fitted hourglass style, with side slit vents, a high mandarin collar, short sleeves, green gold silk decorative pankou knotted toggle closures, a side zipper with snap closures along the front neckline and is fully lined in a jade green color silk fabric. The dress measures 39 inches long, with a 36 inch chest, 26 inch waist, 36 inch hips, 15 inch back and a 14 inch neck. Manchu women early on wore a loose fitting one-piece dress which were called "qipao", transforming later to the more form fitting style "Mandarin Gown" popular in Shanghai during the 1920s-1940s becoming more influenced by Western fashion and fabrics.
