Unfortunately, the cable is unreliable and does not allow data transfer. This is because the plug that fits into the Garmin device has pins which are fixed and not spring-loaded. This means that contact between the device and plug are unreliable, whereas the genuine Garmin cable does have spring-loaded pins. I contacted the seller about this and got no reply.
