Anájikon, das zweite ECM-Album nach Music for piano and string quartet (ECM New Series 2309) der in Athen geborenen und in München lebenden Komponistin Konstantia Gourzi, umfasst ihre Kammer- und Orchestermusik des letzten Jahrzehnts. Die Komponistin dirigiert hier auch das Lucerne Academy Orchestra: "Ich sehe das Komponieren und Dirigieren als Einheit, als eine untrennbare Beziehung", sagt sie. Gourzi ist es ein besonderes Anliegen, Verbindungen zwischen den Künsten herzustellen, was für sie auch mit der Frage nach der eigenen künstlerischen Identität und dem Einfluss ihrer Herkunft zusammenhängt. In Gourzis Klangsprache verschmelzen immer wieder Elemente verschiedener Musiktraditionen, und Ost und West treten in einen Dialog. Dieses Album präsentiert drei ihrer Kompositionen: ihr drittes Streichquartett Anájikon, ihr Orchesterstück Ny-él (ein Auftragswerk des Lucerne Festivals, im August 2016 mit dem Orchester der Lucerne Festival Academy) sowie Hommage à Mozart, drei Dialoge.
