About this product

Product Information

When 14-year-old Leonard decides to quit being a dweeb and instead joins the Burnouts, his 'good boy' persona is abandoned as he embarks on a comically painful journey of self-discovery through his unconventional friendship with Rick, an older Jesus-freak barefoot hippie. The farcical parallel story of how Irving Mandelbaum from Los Angeles transmogrifies into rag-tag cult leader Rick of The Forever Family paints an indelible portrait of California during one of its most preposterous eras.

Good and bad. The good is the book is awesome. The bad is that it arrived damage, with a scuffed, stained cover with a crease in it. Packaging was terrible. Hardcover book placed directly in a thin plastic mailer bag/envelope. No packing. No protection at all. Told seller. They responded as if I was telling them about a delay. Contacted them again. They offered me 10% off a $50 book. After a few more days they offered me 15%. I took it but only to avoid a hassle. Wouldn't buy from again. Sorry
