Seller Notes: “This offering is for an antique 19th century hand carved soapstone picture frame. The coloring of ... “This offering is for an antique 19th century hand carved soapstone picture frame. The coloring of the frame bears a striking resemblance to scroddleware Bennington Pottery and elsewhere that was quite popular in the early 19th century. The frame measures app. 9" by 10" with an oval sight size that measures app. 4.5" by 5.25". The opening on the back side is squared up and measures app. 5.5" by 9.25". The frame is also pretty heavy at about 5 pounds. Included is a mid 19th century hand tinted albumen photograph of a young child. The condition is excellent with minor wear to the surface and a small chip on the top back edge as seen in our photo's. The original lead plugs are in place on the back side to allow for screws for hanging, the screws are recent.”
