Packaging could use improvement: packed with other laptops without back cover directly stacked, so could get scuffed, but not important in my case, nor was it noticeable. The "loose display connection" was because of a missing display cable retainer (screw stand was broken off). The "shuts off shortly after boot" was because of locked BIOS. Kind of hard to know those were the actual issues, but now I have pretty good systems.

"Does not power on" because the 2nd RAM slot makes it blink "unrecognized RAM" code; leaving it out makes it work. Good deal with just that, though I was only looking for the LCD so now I have a working base too. Didn't mention aux antenna cables were cut through because of broken hinge.
