CONNIE RAE Singer Songwriter With a voice that ranges from soothing and sultry to a powerhouse of emotion, Connie Rae Knapp has been recognized for her vocal talent, writing ability, and effortless self promotion. Traditionally rhythm and blues, her style is universal enough to have shared the stage with Grammy Award winning and nominated artist's ranging from jazz to rock, blues to country. She has been the opening act for legendary musicians Leon Russell, Diane Schuur, Average White Band, Tower of Power, Eddie Money, Dave Mason, John Waite of The Babys and Bad English, Dwight Yoakam, Andy Summers of The Police, Colin Hay of Men At Work, Lou Gramm of Forienger, Mike Campbell of Tom Petty, Dennis Quaid and The Sharks, Gary Sinise and the Lt. Dan Band, Jim Belushi and the Sacred Heart, Vonda Shepard, John Mayall, Marcia Ball, Robben Ford, John Hammomd, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Savoy Brown, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, Shemekia Copeland, Anthony Gomes, Tuck and Patti, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers, Solomon Burke Jr. She has also been asked to share the stage with The Zombies, Johnny Winter, Eric Burdon and The Animals, Donovan, Willy Porter, A.J Croce, Ben Taylor, Richard Elliot, Jeffery Gaines, GE Smith of SNL, Alison Brown and The Flying Other Brother's. Connie Rae independently financed her album in 2004 choosing to record at the famous Cherokee Studios in LA. The owners since 1975 Dee, Joe and Bruce Robb were hired to engineer and produce her work. Their client list includes the likes of Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Al Green, Quincy Jones, Earth Wind and Fire, Tower of Power to name a few. Her CD was mastered at Capitol Records while she and photographer, graphic designer Elizabeth Etienne created the 20 page CD booklet. 'Sister Garden' was released in November of 2005. All ten songs were written by Connie Rae. The talent brought in to participate on the CD were: Elliot Easton~ Lead guitarist for The Cars on guitar Mike Thompson~ Keyboardist for Don Henley and The Eagles Oscar Seaton~ Drummer for George Benson, Lionel Richie, Ramsey Lewis, Grover Washington Jr., David Sanborn Bucket Baker~ Percussionist with Macy Gray, Kenny Loggins Andre' Carter~ Featured with The Counting Crows on trumpet Joe Robb~ From The Robb's on saxophone Bruce Robb~ From The Robb's on B3 organ Mahlon Hawk~ Formally of Joshua on bass The Water Sister's~ Who have graced every album from The Stones to Willy Nelson on background vocals. Since 2004, Connie Rae has received 21 nominations for her music and performances, five resulting in wins. The All Access Music Awards presented her with Best Female Pop Vocalist in 2006, Orange County Music Awards with Best Blues Artist in 2007, Ontario Music Awards for Best USA 2007, Inland Empire Music Awards for Best R&B 2009, and Inland Empire Awards 2009 for Best Out Of Area. Additional nomination categories have ranged from Best Album of the Year, Best Record of the Year for The Robb Brothers Producers, Best Inspirational Song of the Year, Best Songwriter, Best Gospel, Best Pop Vocalist, Best Song, Best Jazz, Best Live Acoustic Band, Best Country, Best Out of County. Nine tracks of her original music have been featured on eight separate compilation CD's for various promotional and fund raising projects. She performed live on television for Daybreak OC KDOC, and for the Mayor and City Council of Irvine, has volunteered her time and talent for The American Cancer Society and Susan G Komen Foundation, entertained the Veterans for the Annual Los Angeles VA Event, performed at Angel Stadium in Anaheim California, Orange County Fair, at The Mission Viejo Summer Concert Series, and has become a regular act at the notorious Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, Long Beach Aquarium and Martini Blues in Huntington Beach California.
