This is the 1st true bossa nova album by jazz artists - the one that began the wave. Stan Getz is recognized as master of the form, but, would audiences have even known of bossa nova if not for Charlie Byrd? Byrd played records he's gotten in Brazil for Getz; a session was arranged, and the resultant album (recorded in '62) hit #1 on the charts. Part of Verve's Master Edition series, this release features bonus cut, original art and liner notes, new essay and meticulous restoration and superior digital sound.
