El Evangelista San Marcos es un precursor importante del Cristianismo, desde su infancia inicio el seguimiento de Jesus y sus ensenanzas, pesencio su prendimiento y crucifixion; y posteriormente, colaboro con su pariente Bernabe y el apostol Pedro en la propagacion de la "Buena Nueva," logrando en Antioquia el nombre de Cristianos para sus seguidores. Acompano a San Pablo en su primer viaje de evangelizacion, auxiliando despues a Pedro al escribir sus Memorias que se convirtieron en: "El Evangelio Segun San Marcos"; al final de su vida difundio El Evangelio en Etiopia e igual que varios personajes biblicos, existen versiones distintas respecto al nombre de sus padres, asi como de los lugares donde nacio y murio. Es el Santo Patrono de la Basilica de Venecia, donde es venerado por la Iglesia Catolica, asi como en diversas Iglesias de Latinoamerica, Europa y Africa; extendiendo su veneracion a las Iglesias Copta y Ortodoxa. Eduardo Agaton Hernandez ha recurrido a diferente informacion historica del Cristianismo, referente a este Santo Patrono del pueblo donde nacio en 1943, en la Costa de chica del Estado de Guerrero en Mexico, donde es venerado desde 1840 que cambio su nombre original por el de este Evangelista, pues segun la mitologia del pueblo decidio quedarse a vivir con sus habitantes, segun le contaron sus abuelos, padres y hermanos, originarios tambien de este pueblo.
