Seller Notes: “British Military Scrip Banknotes Album Occupying Germany Second World War WWII Five British ... “British Military Scrip Banknotes Album Occupying Germany Second World War WWII Five British military scrip banknotes were used in Germany's Rhine Valley post-WWII to combat economic hardships. In 1945, divided into four occupation zones, Germany faced a rampant black market in the British zone. To counter this, Great Britain issued £10 million British Armed Forces Special Vouchers in 1946, followed by a second series in 1948. The 1948 issue, along with the stabilization of Germany's financial position, effectively eliminated war profiteering. Subsequent voucher series were issued in later decades, with the final series circulating until 1979. In 1991, the Ministry of Defense auctioned five banknotes used in Germany from 1946 to 1979.”
