The tent was generally in good condition (though not perfect).
There was a fail on the poles. One of the small tubes that hold them together had slipped and got stuck inside one of the carbon poles.
The fault had been tried repaired with tape, so the person who had most recently used the tent was certainly aware of the fault.
Fortunately, there was no damage to the carbon poles themselves, so I had the fault repaired at my own expense.
