I installed the item and it works as expected. Significantly, the seller was most cooperative, the USPS having lost the item at its first receiving office. However, when I realized that the item was stuck there for a week, I contacted the seller through ebay's portal. When he checked, the USPS advised him that the item was lost. He promptly shipped another item to me.
