Seller Notes: “Very Good-Excellent overall vint cond: This absolutely clean & magnificent mid-20th c French vint ... “Very Good-Excellent overall vint cond: This absolutely clean & magnificent mid-20th c French vint lg format Cubist style/cut-out collage, layered, fig color serigraph on paper is in wonderful, pristine & near orig constituted vint cond. It was realized in the mid 1950's-early 1960's by the very well-listed & renowned French painter & master printmaker Max Papart (1911-1994.) The color serigraph is quite lg, measuring nearly 26" x 20" & the uncut paper sheet still has its full margins. The artist signed the print in graphite on the pictorial plane in the lower left corner, along w/the ed #245/295. The iconic print consists really of 2 halves, w/2 separate, enigmatic, mysterious figures, barely articulated, w/a truncated, near Cubist conceptual attitude, the 2 figures approach each other in their own environments, seeming to interact physically but psychologically existing in 2 disparate, irreconcilable worlds. Great, undiminished color & texture. Masterful French Modernist printmaking.”
