Seller Notes: “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: Offered is this early to mid-19th c American antique, really ... “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: Offered is this early to mid-19th c American antique, really nice & especially early, rolled tin sheet candlestick, w/circular finger grasp & concave wax reservoir basin. The candlestick is an early push-up candlestick & is an early form, different from the more common push-up hog scrapers, which are also early & from the late 18th-early 19th c. But this form, w/the finger grasp & tin reservoir, is at least as early as the hog scraper form, if not earlier. It's light, delicate & features hand lead soldering along its seams. The tin surfaces still have remnants of their orig black paint & the candlestick appears not to have been repainted or touched since. It was found here in an early home in int southern NH. The side tin push-up finger knob is also intact & in working order, sliding up & down the vert channel freely & without obstruction. A great early American push-up candlestick, w/terrific orig surfaces. From early 19th c NH w/love. Wonderful.”
