Seller Notes: “A vintage Chinese ‘monkey head held in a hand’ pipe - no damper - with a perforated shallow bowl ... “A vintage Chinese ‘monkey head held in a hand’ pipe - no damper - with a perforated shallow bowl with an air chamber below. The monkey is wearing a baseball cap and has a cigar stub in his mouth. His head is cradled in a hand. It is finish in a brown and black glaze/ lacquer finish. I am undecided about the material it is made from, possibly porcelain or china, in a couple of places where it is rubbed or chipped it is white. I think it could be Chinese as it is similar to another pipe I have listed which has Chine. I do not know how old it is. It measures approximately 13.5cms at the longest point x 4.5cm deep from the bowl to the fingers of the hand. The bowl opening is approximately 1.8cm wide and has an air/ smoke chamber beneath it. Condition: smoked: some of the perforations in the bowl are blocked: the peak of the cap is missing the front end: one of the finers is chipped: the cigar stub is uneven and seems chipped: rubs in places where it has been held.”
