La comunicazione può essere inviata, entro lo stesso termine, anche mediante telegramma o email, a condizione che sia confermata mediante lettera raccomandata con avviso di ricevimento entro le 48 ore successive. Sono esclusi dal diritto di recesso gli acquisti effettuati da rivenditori e da aziende. L'eventuale restituzione della merce già ricevuta dal consumatore, verrà accettata solo se il prodotto non è mai stato utilizzato e risulterà integro nel suo imballo originale e dovrà comunque avvenire entro e non oltre 10 giorni dalla ricezione della merce.
