Seller Notes: “A RARE VINTAGE UNNAMED SMITH & WALL MADE 6" WOODEN DIAMOND BACK BIG GAME SEA REEL, THE REEL WILL BE ... “A RARE VINTAGE UNNAMED SMITH & WALL MADE 6" WOODEN DIAMOND BACK BIG GAME SEA REEL, THE REEL WILL BE FROM THE 1930'S AND WAS MOST LIKELY BUILT FOR ALLCOCK BY SMITH AND WALL. THE REEL HAS A SMITH AND WALL CHECK CATCH PLATE WITH THE SCREW SLOT TO ONE SIDE (ONLY FOUND ON SMITH AND WALL MADE REELS). THE FACE OF THE DRUM HAS BEEN REFINISHED, FOOT HAS BEEN SLIGHTLY TAPERED BY A PREVIOUS OWNER, THERE IS A SMALL COUNTER BALENCE WEIGHT HOLE IN THE RIM FROM PRODUCTION, ALSO A SMALL PIN HOLE IN THE ONE HANDLE. THERE IS A LITTLE PLAY IN THE SPOOL ON THE SPINDLE. THE CHECK IS A LITTLE SOFT, IT MAY BE IMPROVED WITH A LITTLE TIGHTENING OF THE PWAL SCREW AND SPRING, BUT IT STILL WORKS REASONABLY WELL. OVERALL A NICE REEL FOR THE COLLECTION, ALL AS PER PHOTOS AS THESE FORM PART OF THE DESCRIPTION”
