Seller Notes: “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For your review & consideration is this very handsome & very ... “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: For your review & consideration is this very handsome & very well pres, pre-US Civil War, early-mid 19th c American antique New England prmtv ox blood red pntd peg legged wooden stool, feat orig floral motif wool upholstered cover & copper upholstery tacks. The peg legs are inserted into the bottom of the chamfered pine softwood baseplate. The splayed peg legs are lathe-turned & incised w/repeating decorative rings, an early woodworking feat. The legs are stable & sturdy & sit firmly upon a floor. The 100% coarse, hnd wvn floral motif cover is peach, beige & sepia brown colored. The wool cover sits atop nat fiber stuffed cushioning & was hnd wvn, much like an early wool coverlet of the same period. This stool was realized well before the onset of the US Civil War & rep a time in New England, when rural, slower country life characterized nearly all life outside of the lg urban centers & cities. This mere sm pntd wooden stool reflects that reality.”
