Seller Notes: “Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: This early 19th c Dixon & Son, Sheffield, England ornate ... “Very Good-Excellent overall antique cond: This early 19th c Dixon & Son, Sheffield, England ornate & wonderfully dcrt'd pewter sugar & creamer set are now about 200 yrs old & are still in simply estate fresh, extraordinary cond. The forms have a stout, oblong, swag form which is a particularly early one, w/many of the Georgian dcrtv sensibilities still on display. Most notable would be the magnificent inscribed, sgraffito etched pewter sugar & creamer's sidewalls, hosting a dcrtv floral motif. Decorative balance is achieved w/the 4 ornate claw feet holding both the sugar & creamer firmly on a table top or counter, w/particularly ornate, scalloped encrusted leaf motifs, connecting the legs to the bottom of each form. Both the sugar & creamer have an encrusted, twisted rope decorative top edge. Both forms are free from unsightly oxidation, verdigris, deformities or repairs (old or new.) Regal, patrician & w/decidedly Georgian, early 19th c elegance on display. Very fine. Handsome. Clean.”
