Seller Notes: “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: This nearly, if not 200 yr old early 19th c English historical ... “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: This nearly, if not 200 yr old early 19th c English historical Staffordshire 8" B & W soft-paste porcelain transferware dessert plate, is marked w/a dec stamp on the verso, 'Napoleon.' Found on the eastern Atlantic seacoast of NH, it was prev covered in dust & silt, built up on its antique surface over the many yrs it was forgotten in an early chest of drawers. The soft paste dessert plate doesn't suffer from any hairline cracks, ceramic loss or noticeable flea-bites to any of its edges. There are a few minor, shallow utensil abrasions & slight knife cutting marks on the middle of the recessed int basin. The inner raised edge where the basin meets the outer sill, is slightly influenced by some faint oxidation, possibly from a metal object being placed on it. This is minor but needed to be mentioned. Most importantly, is the scene of Napoleon on horseback reviewing French troops on the battlefield. It's crisp & clear. Absolutely terrific. Very rare.”
