Seller Notes: “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: No tears, paper loss, noticeable stains, permutations, corner ... “Good-Very Good overall antique cond: No tears, paper loss, noticeable stains, permutations, corner folds, rips, repairs, unsightly & non-archival use of mending tape or in-painting. The map is nearly as it was orig constituted. The only unfortunate thing is that the paper map was at some point, most likely when it was matted w/the contemporary green mat board system the map is currently in, laid down upon the backing board w/adhesive. The adhesive appears to have been archival, as there are no adhesive 'burns' or discoloration often associated w/glue & other adhesives, endemic to laid down paper. The map was the product of the American cartographer & geographer Augustus Mitchell Jr. The map has a characteristic meandering ivy floral border surrounding the entire map w/decorative corners. The map features hand-coloring w/red-violet, green, yellow, crimson red & light cobalt blue hand-painted watercolors, allowing the viewer to more readily see the divisions within the map itself. Clean.”
